I want to love Jesus so much that when I look up to Heaven and say, 'Dear Jesus, I love You,' He'll look down and say, 'Yes, Charles, I know it.' —Charles Spurgeon

When you pray, you talk to God; but when you read the Bible, God talks to you.—D.L. Moody

Forget It

Forget the slander I have heard;
Forget the hasty, unkind word;

Forget the quarrel and the cause;
Forget the whole affair, because
Forgetting is the only way.
Forget the storm of yesterday;

Forget the chap whose sour face
Forgets to smile in any place.

Forget I'm not a millionaire;
Forget my silver, thinning hair;

Forget the coffee when it's cold;
Forget to kick; forget to scold;

Forget the grocer's rising charge;
Forget the power bill is large;

Forget the scoundrel's evil ways;
Forget the winter's blustery days.

What If?

...have more realistic expectations for myself.
...learn to say, "This too shall pass."
...make a point of enjoying every stage of life.
...listen more carefully to the counsel of others.
...cherish every friendship.
...put less emphasis on material things.
...worry less about failure.
...spend less time wondering about other people's opinions of me.
...talk less.
...say "I love you" more.
...fret less about the future.
...smile more.
...memorize more Scripture.
...be more observant to the beauty God has put in the world.
...be less critical of others.
...learn to laugh at myself more easily.
...be freer with my praise.
...put a higher premium on integrity.
...work for more consistency in practicing the Word of God.
...make fewer excuses.
...put a higher value on every opportunity to learn and grow.
...complain less.
...tell the Lord more often how thankful I am that He chose me and that He loves me.

With All My Heart

"I will praise thee, O LORD, with my whole heart."—Psalm 9:1
cross with sun

Teach me to trust Thee, Lord, everywhere,
To cast upon Thee my every care,
To seek Thy wisdom ever in prayer
With all my heart, Lord, with all my heart.

Teach me to love Thee, Saviour so kind,
With all my heart, my soul and my mind.
In Thee all pleasure ever to find,
With all my heart, Lord with all my heart.

Teach me to serve Thee; I'm not my own.
Come, take possession of my heart's throne,
With joy and gladness, serve Thee alone
With all my heart, Lord, with all my heart.

Teach me to sing my praises to Thee
For Thy great love that saved even me.
Oh, I will praise Thee, eternally,

With all my heart, Lord, with all my heart.

The Clock of Life

clock face

The clock of life is wound but once,
And no man has the power
To tell just when the hands will stop,
At late or early hour.
To lose one's wealth is sad indeed.
To lose one's health is more.
To lose one's soul is such a loss
That no man can restore.

A Day With Him

A DAY WITH HIM
I heard the voice of Jesus say,
"My son, it's time to kneel and pray."
Down on my knees I quietly went
And talked with Him 'til power was sent.

Alone with God, as Jacob of old,
I discovered joy more precious than gold.
The peace of God flowed into my heart,
And I knew from Him I'd never part.

The things I learned that day from God
Gave me wisdom the pathway to trod.
"Trust me," He said, "with all your heart,
And strength I'll give you the day to start."

Beginning with Him, I felt secure,
Knowing His Word is true and pure.
During the day, He stayed with me,
Giving me light His way to see.

My burden of sin on Him I laid,
Knowing His blood the price had paid.
When evening came and the shadows fell,
I knew that with my soul all was well.

The song He gave me during the night
Consoled my heart 'til morning light.
With the rising of the sun, I heard Him say,
"Together we'll go through another day."
